SEC Proposes First Crypto-Specific Fundraising Framework With $75M Exemption
The SEC's new proposal would create a crypto-specific fundraising framework with a $75 million exemption, capping a busy week for federal crypto rulemaking.
The SEC has proposed its first crypto-specific fundraising framework, including a $75 million exemption. The proposal follows the Treasury's own 60-day comment period on GENIUS Act stablecoin rules, marking two major pieces of federal crypto rulemaking in the same week.
The proposal is part of a broader policy push in Washington. Executives from Coinbase, Ripple, Polymarket and Gemini are expected at a White House event on Wednesday alongside Nasdaq and NYSE, with SEC Chairman Gary Gensler and CFTC Acting Chairman Michael Selig also expected to attend. The CLARITY Act remains pending in the Senate ahead of a procedural vote next month.
