Circle Stock Rises as EURC Passes €400M; Analysts Split on Valuation

Circle's stock closed up 4% as its euro-pegged stablecoin EURC crossed €400 million in circulation, while Wall Street analysts issued sharply conflicting price targets.

Circle's stock rose 4.15% to $74.59 on August 17 after the company announced that its euro-pegged stablecoin EURC had crossed €400 million in circulation. According to Google Finance data cited by CryptoRank, the stock also gained 3% over the trailing five-day period, with Circle highlighting that EURC supply has grown more than 100% over the past year.

The milestone arrives as analysts are divided on Circle's valuation. TD Cowen initiated coverage with a Buy rating and an $82 price target, implying about 31% upside, while Morgan Stanley downgraded the stock to Underweight and slashed its target from $106 to $38, implying 39% downside. The $44 gap between the two targets reflects a debate over how much of Circle's revenue depends on reserve income versus its broader platform evolution.

EURC is now available across major blockchains, exchanges and payment networks, expanding the use of euro-denominated digital money for payments and institutional work. The divergent Wall Street views underscore the uncertainty facing stablecoin issuers as they push from trading utilities toward mainstream financial infrastructure.
